It Has to Work Now!

Saturday – January 18, 2025 at 3:00 PM

Sometimes things break at the least convenient times—just before a performance, on
the way to the stage, or even days earlier when your student only just noticed the
problem. Regardless of when it happens, the show must go on. So, what do you do
when faced with a sudden repair need? How can you quickly get back on track and
ensure a successful performance? Scott will walk you through the various ways to make
instruments functional in a pinch, focusing on temporary fixes and practical strategies.
He will also highlight the critical mistakes to avoid in order to preserve the integrity of
the instrument, covering the essential tools and materials you’ll need to handle the
situation—along with the ones you should never use.

Benefits of a strong Relationship with your local music store
Beyond repairs, a strong relationship with a local music store provides a music educator
valuable insight into equipment purchases, as music store staff will be invested in
helping make informed decisions about instrument purchases and repair based on
quality, durability, and brand-specific features balanced over the budget. Store
Education Representatives can act as trusted advisors to local music educators, guiding
them in selecting the best instruments within their budget and ensuring proper spending
of school funds in the repair shop. Knowledge and support from a trusted music store
ultimately fosters an environment where both the teacher and students can thrive,
where access to quality instrument repair and maintenance, (and a trusted advisor),
removes common obstacles between the musicians and music education and
performance.
