The Monta Vista Chamber Orchestra is the advanced string ensemble at Monta Vista High School. This class consists of students grades 10-12. In 2022, the Monta Vista Chamber Orchestra was selected to perform at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois.
MVHS is located in Cupertino, California. Founded in 1969, Monta Vista is part of the Fremont Union High School District alongside Lynbrook, Homestead, Cupertino, and Fremont High Schools. Students primarily come from one of two middle schools in the Cupertino Union School District: Kennedy or Lawson Middle Schools. The Monta Vista instrumental music program is led by John Gilchrist, who has led the instrumental music program since 2020. The department is host to three bands, two orchestras, and four choirs. Monta Vista provides access to a variety of music extracurriculars including full orchestra, jazz band, marching band, winter guard and winter percussion.
