Let’s Get Lit: Implementing Children’s Literacy to Support VAPA Music Standards

Saturday – January 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM

The clinician will showcase how to transform culturally relevant and timely children’s books into engaging Orff-inspired activities for the elementary general music classroom. Participants will explore various methods of using literacy to inspire imaginative, standards-based music lessons that foster creativity and connection. Using movement, instruments, speech, and singing, teachers will gain practical tools for designing their own book-based music lessons that promote cross-curricular learning, SEL, and cultural representation—no matter the type of books they choose to integrate into their learning community.
