When it comes to standards-aligned instruction in the large ensemble setting, we tend to live in the realms of PERFORMING, RESPONDING, and CONNECTING. But what about CREATING? This session will introduce participants to Lee, an AI assistant trained to assist you with developing lessons centered around creativity. While this session is designed with large ensembles in mind, the content is relevant to any music education setting.

Michael Fleischmann
Desert Sands Unified School District
Michael Fleischmann is an educator, conductor, and performer in Southern California. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from USC, a master’s in wind conducting from CSU Fullerton, and a Doctor of Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
While at USC, Michael was a member of The Sprit of Troy, where he performed for a variety of events both nationally and internationally. He also joined the Tony Award-winning Broadway production “Blast!” in 2001, performing at Disney parks in Orlando and Anaheim, across the United States in the first national tour, and on Broadway.
Michael has been a dedicated music educator since 2004, serving as a high school and middle school band director for 17 years, and teaching at College of the Desert since 2014. His ensembles have performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall. Currently, he is the Project Facilitator for Visual and Performing Arts for Desert Sands Unified School District.
Michael is also a clinician and presenter, focusing on French horn pedagogy and applying creativity in large ensemble settings. He has been published in The Instrumentalist and is a founding member of The Research Riff (www.researchriff.com), a music education “micro journal” and podcast. He currently resides in Palm Desert, CA.
