Audiate! Thinking Musically: An Introduction to Music Learning Theory

Saturday – January 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM

The clinician will provide an overview of Edwin Gordon's Music Learning Theory. In conjunction with the theory, participants will also have tangible strategies and activities of how to navigate the learning sequence in their own classrooms. Participants will have a deeper understanding of how to assess their students music making. The clinician will also share how to step out of "TEACHER teaches STUDENT" and walk right into "STUDENT teaches STUDENT" no matter where your students are in their music literacy. That means less work for the teacher while students practice their critical thinking skills.
