The clinician will present findings from a repeated measures study investigating elementary preservice teachers’ comfort with music in the elementary classroom during a collegiate music integration course. This research explores how future educators perceive music both as a stand-alone subject and as an integrated component of instruction. Survey data were collected from preservice teachers (N = 112) at three points throughout the semester to examine potential shifts in comfort, confidence, and perceptions of music’s value relative to other subjects. Statistical analyses, including repeated measures ANOVA, revealed how instructional experiences such as peer teaching influence participants’ evolving attitudes toward music education. This session will share implications for music teacher educators and generalist preparation programs seeking to strengthen music’s role in the elementary curriculum.
