The clinician will provide songs and movement games, practical application, and neurologic understanding of the appropriate materials for teachers to use with children ages 3 to 15. Participants will learn about the role of play, movement and questioning techniques to sponsor thinking, creativity and musical development in the young child. Through their experience in Education Through Music, children gain the social and interactive skills needed in a variety of contexts. There will also be a focus on the relationship of how children become literate in music through the development of a strong auditory system and how that system is strengthened using Education Through Music's materials and techniques.

Marie Butler has been the Executive Director of the Richards Institute of Education and Research (ETM) since 2015, has studied for 23 years and conducted courses for the last 9 in Education Through Music. During her time as Executive Director, she has committed to supporting educators and families across the United States, Canada and Japan in the use of ETM with children. Marie has taught Kindergarten and 5th grade and is currently a music educator ages TK-5th grade. She conducts teacher mentorships around the country. She has lead trainings and staff developments in districts across the United States and Canada and Japan. She has presented at numerous conferences including the California Music Educators Conference and the California Early Childhood Conference. Marie coordinates and leads the Richards Institute’s international conference for more than 200 educators from all over the world as well as numerous family camps.
