Interactive Rehearsal and Conducting Techniques

Presentation Outline
The focus of this session is upon inclusive and engaging methods for students of all backgrounds and levels.
The clinician will cover a variety of approaches for creating a supportive environment within which the “head, heart and hands” of the students are involved with creating meaningful experiences on a daily basis.
Basic and advanced conducting techniques will also be demonstrated, that will save considerable rehearsal time while achieving more meaningful and artistic results.
This presentation is suitable for teachers of all levels and will result in ideas and techniques that can be applied immediately in the classroom and rehearsal.

Glenn D. Price

California Institute of Technology (Caltech)

Dr. Glenn D. Price is recognized as a leading conductor and educator, having conducted student, community, and professional ensembles in over 30 countries.

A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, additional studies included the Toho Gakuen School in Japan, plus Tanglewood, Europe, and Russia.   An active composer and author, his comprehensive text titled The Eloquent Conductor (pub. GIA 2016), has earned positive critical acclaim.

He has conducted for CBDNA, WASBE, ABA, MENC, and BASBWE.  His numerous recordings are now available online at: https://www.youtube.com/GlennDPriceConductor

Formerly Director at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory (CCM), and University of Calgary, he is currently Director of Performing and Visual Arts at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he conducts the Wind Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra.

His professional service includes directing the International Youth Wind Orchestra and Orquesta Latinoamericano de Vientos, plus election as President of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE).
