This session will engage participants in movement exercises from basic to more advanced levels that will inspire creativity in the music classroom. Ideas to promote physical responses to music will be also be included. Participants can expect to see examples, engage in sample activities, and share personal experiences.

Dr. Emily Mason is an Associate Professor at California State University, Fresno, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music. She holds degrees from Florida State University (Ph.D., Music Education), the Ohio State University (M.M., Vocal Performance) and Capital University (B.M., Music Education). An elementary general music specialist, Dr. Mason also has certification and training in several teaching pedagogies including the Kodály Method, Orff-Schulwerk Approach, and Dalcroze-Eurhythmics. An active clinician and researcher, Dr. Mason has presented clinics and research at state and national conferences, and has been published in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, the Music Educators Journal, General Music Today, and the Choral Journal. Additionally, Dr. Mason has presented professional development workshops for music teachers in numerous school districts.
