“Mature” Voices, Young Singers: Developing Tone Quality and Student Awareness

Thursday – January 14, 2027 at 2:00 PM | B1

This clinic will equip choir directors with skills and techniques to effectively function as vocal coaches while leading their ensembles. Participants will learn strategies for building vocal technique and improving tone quality awareness in secondary choirs. Dr. Reyes will guide participants in developing singers' awareness of what produces different tone qualities across genres, fostering a more mature and cohesive choral sound. The clinic will cover practical vocal exercises, strategies for vocal growth, and methods for teaching foundational vocal pedagogy to students. These tools will help directors create healthy vocal habits, engage students in the process, and elevate ensemble performance while empowering young singers to explore a diverse range of expressive sounds.
