Every Learner in the Room: Rehearsal Design That Works for All Students

Thursday โ€“ January 14, 2027 at 11:00 AM | A11

Every ensemble director has students whose needs don't fit the standard rehearsal model โ€” and most have never received formal training on how to reach them. The clinician will reframe inclusive rehearsal design not as a specialized accommodation track, but as the intensification of good teaching practice. Drawing from experience overseeing more than 100 music programs across a large urban district, the clinician will explore six domains of student need commonly present in ensemble settings and offer practical, immediately applicable rehearsal strategies for each. Participants will examine real rehearsal scenarios, work through concrete instructional adjustments, and leave with tools ready for use the following school day.

Target Audience

Band, Choir, Orchestra, and General Music educators โ€” all levels.
