A strong pedagogical and musical foundation is crucial to the artistic development of young musicians. The clinician will address the first days of instruction, transitioning to the “small instrument,” rhythm vocabulary, first-time challenges for beginners, the evolution of musical expression, and fundamentals time for various levels of middle school and young high school instruction. The goal is to use developmentally appropriate language and strategies to foster comprehensive musicianship. Technology-based, free resources will be shared to provide access to all students, and culture-building strategies will promote helping students become the best version of themselves.
