This session panel will explore how music educators can strengthen the career pipeline by hosting a student teacher. Moving beyond basic technical instruction, it reframes mentorship as a collaborative, co-teaching practice. Participants will learn to guide candidates through administrative realities, foster psychological safety, and demystify the path to becoming a vital cooperating teacher.

Chad Zullinger

Dr. Chad Zullinger is an Assistant Professor of Music in Music Education at Sacramento State, where his duties include teaching courses in music technology, general, and choral music education. In addition, he serves as President of the California Music Educators Association (CMEA). He earned his BM in Composition at San Francisco State University, MM in Choral Conducting from the University of Delaware, and a DMA in Music Education at Boston University.
