The clinician will present an evidence-based framework to address the multifaceted issue of teacher and student attrition in music departments. Drawing from her recent surveys of California Music Educators for a doctoral dissertation and extensive experience as a mentor teacher, she will share the innovative, mentorship-based, traveling team-teaching program that her district has implemented, which is producing 85% teacher retention and 80% student retention in performing ensembles in grades 6-12.

Lammersville Unified School District
Dr. Heinrich is the Visual and Performing Arts TOSA for Lammersville Unified School District. She has taught music for thirty two year, in Ohio, Michigan, and California, in public, private and charter schools. She recently completed her Doctorate in Music Education, focusing her research on the mentor teacher relationship. She has worked for Lammersville Unified School district for twelve years, starting as a traveling teacher in K-8. As the school district has grown, she has had the privilege of extensive work in curriculum development and helping to design an innovative model of traveling teachers and mentorship programs. Her research has ignited a passion to share what she has learned with other districts and teachers. This will be her first time presenting for CASMEC.
