Mariachi Reading Session

Saturday – January 16, 2027 at 10:00 AM | Crest Theatre

Attendees will have the opportunity to play the guitar, vihuela, trumpet, and guitarrón in authentic performance style through the introduction and playing of beginning and intermediate mariachi arrangements (ranchera valseada, ranchera lenta, bolero, and polka) led by an expert in mariachi education (TBA). Some basic technique will be explored. Instruments will be available to use and no experience is required. Come experience mariachi!

Anthony C. Dahl

Manteca Unified School District

Anthony Dahl is the Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator in Manteca Unified School District where he supports 30 music teachers, 17 visual arts teachers, five theatre teachers, one dance teacher, and two arts integration specialists. Prior to accepting this role, Mr. Dahl taught 16 years in the k-12 music classroom, including 13 as the Instrumental Music Teacher at Manteca High School where he taught guitar, piano, AP music theory, and directed all facets of the band program. He has also taught elementary general music, choir, elementary and middle school band, and most recently co-taught a beginning mariachi class.  In addition to his public-school duties, Mr. Dahl is an adjunct Associate Professor of Music at San Joaquin Delta College and serves as an adjunct lecturer at Teachers College of San Joaquin.
