Alexis True
Thomas Downey High School
Alexis True has served as Director of Instrumental Music at Thomas Downey High School since 2020, where she teaches orchestra, jazz band, concert band, marching band, and guitar. Prior to teaching at the high school level, she spent five years with Sylvan Union School District teaching beginning instrumental and general music.
Ms. True earned a Master of Music in Tuba Performance from California State University, Sacramento in 2020, after completing dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Tuba Performance in 2014. During her time at Sacramento State, she performed with the Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Marching Band while studying music education with Professor Sue Metz and Dr. Clay Redfield, and tuba with Professor Julian Dixon.
In addition to teaching, Ms. True performs regularly as a freelance musician throughout the Central Valley and maintains a private tuba studio.
