Rodney Chism
Kentucky State University
Dr. Rodney D. Chism, Sr. serves as Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Kentucky State University, where he also serves as Music Department Chair. With more than two decades of experience in secondary and higher education, he is recognized for his leadership in band program development, student mentorship, and advancing excellence in music education. Dr. Chism holds a Doctor of Music Education from Liberty University, where his research centers on work–life balance and sustainable leadership among band directors. He earned his Master of Music Education from Jackson State University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. An award-winning composer, he is the recipient of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Intercollegiate Jazz Composition Contest. Dr. Chism is an active clinician and member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc., and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
